Insurance

Thanks a ton for the information! I had no idea how Progressive factored all that in, but it makes sense now. I will def. give StateFarm a try. Thanks a ton!

+1!

I used to be with State Farm but dropped my motorcycle insurance with them because they required me to carry the maximum in liability coverage. As a 50 year old with no points, no claims, no nothing and very little exposure (my opinion), it just wasn't worth it to me. They required maximum coverage because I carry a million dollar personal liability umbrella policy (neighborhood mom nutjob whose son is friends with my son). They had good rates except for that requirement otherwise I would still be with them. I went with Nationwide but then they jacked my coverage for state minimums to double what Geico wanted so I just changed to Geico today. If you've got State Farm in your area and especially if you have other insurance with them, give them a try otherwise see about Geico.

Respectfully,

Jet

I am just about ready to order my '08 1098, hopefully Monday I will be putting my $$ down for the dealer to get mine in. I had Progressive up until friday, they quoted me $1970 a year for the 1098. I was currently paying $800 a year on my '00 Kawi ZX12R, one of my friends told me to try State Farm so Friday morning I called them, by 1pm I was sitting in the office and left at 1:35 with everything switched to them.

1. $300 per year cheaper on my car with way higher coverages (full coverage).
2. $217 per year vs Progressives $800 on my ZX12R (full coverage as well, 12 months of it).
3. A written quote for the '08 1098 of $254 per year for 12 months of full coverage (only $1000 medical).

BTW I am a 30 year old male with a clean record, no accidents and 13 years licensed motorcycle experience.

I went to Progessive and Allstate too and got the same answer they just don't insure you by giving you that kind of rate.
State Farm was the only one that came out with a reasonable rate ($740 full coverage).

If you bundle your cars, home owners, and motorcycle insurance with the same company you usually get a lower rate. I'm sure he was just putting his rate into perspective, not lording his landed status over any renters out there...

Oh i see, really i'm just teasin him since he is flaming me today. To be serious I have my house, car and bike on the same and I think I'm really getting ripped on the Duc. 2200 a year is crazy. I even have a good driving record. In fact I almost never ride on the street I'm pretty much a track rider and will prob track the Duc very soon.

Wow that is insane! I just got my 1098 base last week, which by the way i love and got quoted $350 every 6 months for full coverage with $500 deductable. I also have a truck insured with them and my yamaha 03 r6 which costs me $160 every 6 months for full coverage. The coverage is with statefarm and i have nothing on my record and i am 21 years old as of july. I have owned bikes with insurance with them since i was 16 so i don't know if that helps? I can't believe some of the rates you guys are paying! good luck people and give statefarm a try they have a good multi vehicle discount.
