No, in this area, USAA does not have "preferred" shops (although lots of others do).

Do understand, what makes a repair shop "preferred" (or a "DRP" in body shop speak) is the discount & priority they give to the insurance co. on repairs and/or parts/labor.

I am a DRP for many other Ins cos though.

As an insurance agent I can tell you that body shops are not a really reliable source of info on who is good and who isn't. Most of them do whatever they can to become a "preferred vendor".

I have found that most of the major companies do a pretty good job of getting you back on the road. There are a couple that seem pretty bad. American Family tends to not want to pay up when the claim was their insureds fault; instead telling the other party to go to their own company (in NV it is the at fault insurance co responsibility to fix/replace the vehicle). That costs everyone money since the other company now has to subrogate against them for the money back. They always wind up paying anyway and it takes a lot of time.
