Instalation error 'msi' missing

Hi.

can anyone help? I've just had IT re-install windows on my pc and they had to re-install my palm desktop due to admin rights etc...

Anyway, palm desktop did not fire up, it stayed on the splash screen and that was it. So I thought I'd get the latest version from the 'palmsource' site (PalmDesktopWin414EN.zip)

When installing it comes up with an error saying it cannot find the file 'palm desktop.msi', even though I have found it in windows and on the cd, it still does not recognise this as the correct file.

Can you help?

Thanks in advance
Si.

I have win XP, Palm T3.

You can't install any version of the Palm desktop without admin rights to the machine so you're going to have to get the IT guys to do the install. I don't think the desktop version is your problem though. Do you have more than one user name in the Palm desktop? This could happen if you used another Palm in the past and then created a new user name for your current Palm. If so, the Palm destop won't start up unless you're running as an admin. Have one of the IT guys try open the Palm desktop while he's logged inas the admin. If it opens, go to the user name list and delete any additional user names except the one you're currently using. This will allow you to sync with the Palm desktop without admin rights.
