Insomnia and extreme hunger?

I am having a problem with insomnia -- the kind that keeps me up til 5 a.m.!! But along with it, I can't stop eating. It's like I am a bottomless pit, and there is pain in my left-sided abdomen and chest, mid chest, and my back, sometimes others. I am already supposed to get a sleep study for day time sleepiness, but what could make me so uncomfortable/wide awake and what about this pain? I am taking Prilosec by the way for gastritis (possible ulcers), but I don't know. I waited too long to eat breakfast one day this week, but I did take doxycycline that morning, and I vomited a bit. Does this seem like an ulcer? sometimes it's in my middle left abdomen too, but they have done gallbladder and pancreas testing and all were fine when done. I HAVE been drinking more lately. Also, if it is ulcers, is this a possible cause of hunger/weight gain lately?

STOP drinking. Drinking while taking meds can cause severe stomach problems. Stop drinking and graze (eat little meals) thru the day and see if that helps. I think if you stop drinking you may find a lot of the issues cease.

Alcohol isn't good for ulcers, and it certainly doesn't help with insomia. I'd stop the booze, try to eat decent meals, don't sleep during the day and get plenty of exercise and see if that doesn't help some. But don't drink. That isn't good with meds and with ulcers....

I was diagnosed through a scope with mild gastritis. My symptoms were pain in the upper middle abdomen and slightly to the left along with hunger, but my gastritis is very mild apparantly. I would suggest you see a gastro, it could be an ulcer or gastritis and possibly a hiatus hernia which would cause reflux. It might be an idea to have your thyroid checked also. it can cause hunger, weight gain and insomnia.
