Hello, I have some sort of sore in my mouth that I couldn't find an accurate description for online. It is located around where my tonsils would be (I had them removed maybe 12 years ago). It seems like part of my mouth has worn away, because feeling the same place on the other side of my mouth is rounded and this one is indented; it's a white circle on the painful side and normal pink on the other side. It's been noticeable since Friday, first seeming like a sore throat which progressed into this sore that's been causing great discomfort and pain when swallowing. I think the problem is that my tongue is always against it, which probably isn't allowing it to heal properly. This is supported by the fact that the part of it resting against the back of my tongue is redder and a little bloody, though no blood comes out into my mouth. It's not a huge sore and I have to use a flashlight to be able to see it. I've been rubbing Ora-gel onto it to numb it. I'm getting kind of scared that it's not getting any better. Admittedly, it doesn't seem to be getter worse, but that's small consolation. Is it an infection, vitamin deficiency, or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
