Cates moved away from the church because of a little boy tommy stebbins. he drowned in a river and reverend brown said he wouldnt have ever been saved because hes never been baptized. brown said his soul would burn forever. cates thinks that religion should comfort people instead of scaring them to death. how does this whole thing affect the trial in the end.
