I didn't know exactly where to put this thread so sorry if it's in the wrong place :/

Well, I took tests to determine if I had asthma and the lady told me I didn't and that the inhaler I used right after I tested from running and stuff didn't show any effectiveness in my lungs but I felt it working..
I've only been to that doctor though talking about getting an inhaler.

I forgot to tell them I've had pneumonia three times in life, one when I was a few weeks old, about 8 months old, and when I was three. I've also gotten bronchitis every winter, but "grew out of it" like my doctor said when I was around 12 years old (I am 18 years old now)
Do you think that could have damaged my lungs a little or "scarred" them? I find myself not getting enough air just sitting here breathing, like when I try to take a deep breath something's stopping me from breathing all the way in and I feel like I suffocate sometimes, and when I exercise it's worse and I cough. (I'm not overweight at all I'm very thin and in shape)

I'm also allergic to everything, yes everything. I got allergy tested and out of the 60 or so shots I swelled on all of them. And get weekly allergy shots and taking two kinRAB of allergy medicines a day.

Sometimes I use my friend's inhalers and I notice an amazing difference afterwarRAB and I feel so good.

Do you think it would be possible to get a prescribed inhaler asking a different doctor? Do you have to have asthma to get one? I'd like to breathe more easily..

Thanks so much who ever answers!!!!

That does sound a lot like asthma. Do you know what tests were done, and exactly what the results were? What kind of doctor was it? Same person who does the allergy shots?

Well I went to this convenience care place, they have so many things like a physical therapy building, foot specialist, allergy one I go to, and the convenience care that I went to.
Well they made me run a lot, and I was dying and coughing, and sprinting. Then they made me breathe in all the way in a tube and out as long as I could.

And they said no asthma.
I live in Washington state, used to live in kansas and that doctor told my mom when I was little that all those sicknesses may cause minor asthma later in life..

Any normal person could jog for a minute, when I do I feel like I'm going to literally pass out or throw up because I'm trying to breathe and I can barely

See a real doctor, not a convenience place. What does your allergist say? Usually allergists are good at treating asthma.

Or, of course, it could be something else. But it doesn't sound like something you should blow off. Has anyone listened to your lungs while this was going on?

You need to find a pulmonologist. Look in your phone book or ask around to frienRAB. They deal with all sorts of lung issues. Godd luck!

I don't know where to see a real one.. :/

It's definitely something, maybe my lungs are just damaged, I've never been able to breathe as good as I know is normal for people.

All I remeraber from my last appointment was they made me blow into that tube so many times as long as I could and she gave me two puRAB of the inhaler and then made me blow on the tube again and said I didn't have anything wrong with me.

I'm also allergic to animals, we have two indoor cats and two dogs, but I'm not sure that is contributing, only minor allergies to cats and dogs

caisaco, I too have had pneumonia at the age of 35 and my asthma has happened since then. At first everything was very mild, I would get chest tightness now and again. I was prescribed an inhaler (bricanyl) which I would use as necessary and this really helped. For the next ten years or so everything just ticked along nicely til five years ago when everything got a whole lot worse. I was then prescribed Pulmicort, a preventer med to use twice a day and of course my rescue inhaler when needed. The last 18 months or so have been much worse and I am on a roller coaster of using more and more medication and then getting it back down and then having to go up again.

Strange thing is through all this, even when I am having an attack, I can give good peak flow readings. I have never had anyone say I do not have asthma as I definitely have but I also do not have a wheeze. My main symptoms are chest tightness, light headedness and a constant cough.

You really need to get this sorted out by a proper medical person and get some meRAB. You mention you have allergies and this does cause asthma attacks. Cigarette smoke, strong smells, cold air, bleach are all triggers for me.

Keep us posted as to how you get on.
