infuse (bmp) / bone graft for anterior surgery

Hello every body ; hope ya`ll enjoyed your LABOR DAY WEEKEND , I am getting ready for my scheduled ALIF surgery on Sept.14th.. This is my 3rd back surgery in 6 years - last one was a 2 level fusion (posterior) l4/5 - l5/s1 This surgery is an anterior approach on the same levels : FAILED BACK SYNDROME :

Even knowing what to expect - it's still nerve raking to know what awaits in the following weeks.. If any body has had this surgery with the INFUSE process , (no bone taking from your body) I would love to hear about it , My last surgery they used my own bone from my hip and this they're not.. I would love to get some more personal info. on what to expect after this surgery and if you approve of the BMP/INFUSE bone grafting style ?

I had a two level fusion, posterier last Dec. The fusion healed good, and now I am nine months out and hardware out last Friday. My ortho has taken out many hardware due to pain from irritation of screws. I had a test that confirmed no pain with lidocane. I am hoping it is the end to it. I hope you get along well. Long recovery, but my Ortho swears by bmp says it is better than your own bone. Good Luck,
 
Billy, I had BMP and donor bone, not my own. I fused really fast! I also had a bone growth stimulator. You'll have a lot less pain by not having bone harvested from your hip. I really think this is the way to go! Glad your surgeon thinks so too!

Thank you Emily , I am having the same thing - BMP & doner bone. During my last surgery they took bone from my pelvic area and it hurt like a mother !! Lets pray that this is the last back surgery for me , I can't beleave that my surgery is in 6 days.. I am remaiming possitive and doing what I can to keep buisy untill then SEPT.14th , nerves are starting to kick up though..
