Infrared imaging of the human body?

Using the EXTECH i5 color IR camera, when imaging the human body, there are red/blue to red/violet, to pure bright purple hues along the edges of the body part being imaged. What are these color fringes, what causes them? Can the frequency of these colors be determined from their color, temperature, combination?
