Call your local newspaper and ask to talk to some of the staff photographers who shoot for the sports section of the paper ... you can call SI and ask to talk to the photo editor.
OR you can actually use Yahoo Search and do the background research and then using the resources you discover, so between three and five interviews can be conducted for you piece.
