I am 16 years old, and I live in Iowa. My home life isn't what you would call amazing. I have an alcoholic mother, and it gets really bad. I am now the only child living at home.. and I am often left alone to deal with it. The stress is not only affecting my moods, but my school grades, and my friendships. Lately, I've had problems with my father a lot too. I am not at all a bad kid, I don't want to get emancipated because i want to be a rebel or anything. I want to get emancipated because i can't stand this anymore, I am sinking into depression more and more each day because i can't handle what goes on here. This is more of a need, than a want. So, here are some of my questions. I will appreciate any help. Thank you very much.
1. Do I have to move out before I get emancipated? And, if so, what if my parents report me as a runaway for moving out?
2. Do I have to get permission from my parents to be emancipated?
3. I know I have to have a job, and be able to support myself, but is there a certain amount of money i need to have?
4. If you know any information, Will you please tell me? I've tried looking online, but not much comes up.
