info on harley davidson sportster?

Having trouble down shifting more than one gear . After I down shift one gear I have to lift up on gear shifter to catch the next gear down.Does not matter where I am in the shift pattern.Already changed fluid. H.D. 883 with 2000 miles. help
 
You don't say what year the bike is or if you bought it new or used. Check to see if the shift lever is loose. When you down shift and have to LIFT to hit the next gear that tells me the shift lever is going too far so maybe the splines are stripped or stripping because of the loose bolt. If that's not it and you still have a warranty take the bike back to the shop and act like you know what your talking about. I don't trust any of these shops. Ask questions and make sure their answers make sense. Good Luck
