Well its depends on which dance intensive you go to, but I went to ABT summer intensive.
Its so much fun!
The classes included are ballet technique, pointe, pas de deux/partnering, variations, men's class, modern, character, original choreography, ABT repertoire, pilates, hip hop, dance history, acting, music theory, dance improvisation and nutrition/health. Bring all your dance clothes, like you are at a convention. Each day we danced from 9 or 9:30 depending if you were at WSU or DOH, until 5:15. We had about an hour and a half for lunch, and 15 minutes between classes. Each day you start the day with an hour and 45 minute technique, and then an hour pointe or partnering. Then you have lunch. Then you have any 2 of the following depending on the day- rehearsal for ABT rep for the show, rehearsal for choreography for the show, jazz, modern, yoga, pilates, improv, character, etc. Then on saturdays we danced from 10:30 I think and until 3 or 3:30. We had lectures on saturdays- music, dance history, improv, nutrition, historical dance, etc.
I went through about 2 pairs of pointes, but I go through them very slowly! Others went through 3, 4, 5 or 6 pairs, so it depends on how fast you kill them.
The audition was pretty good, pretty simple for most of the combinations. There will be a few judges sitting at a table in front, and one or two will walk around durring barre.
Also for leotards a simple black one is good.
hope you have one its loads of fun!
