I had similar throat issues for about a year until they went away. I had what are called "tonsil stones." They started out as just annoying and it felt like something was stuck in my throat and was scratching me. Then they got worse and would be very painful and I'd lose my voice quite often. I could also sometimes see and taste a little bit of blood. Doctors were not able to help me out the different times I visited them. One time they told me I had strep throat (even though I didn't have a fever and ALL symptoms were involving my throat) and give me antibiotics. It seemed to go away, but came right back. After another trip to the doctor, they said no, it isn't strep and it's a sensitivity to something. After I moved from the area, my throat improved. For me, it had to be something in the air. I didn't really seem to get much allergies, but perhaps it was all throat allergies. Now I get mostly sinus pressure, but my throat hardly ever gets the tonsil stones.
If it doesn't go away, getting your tonsils removed may be the only way you get relief. You can use throat sprays or sore throat drops for now, but they won't cure the problem. I used these to help with the pain on bad days. My throat would also get pretty red. The tonsil stones started off very small and would get larger with time. I could nearly poke them out with a finger, but that hurt too and then a new one would form pretty soon after. What a pain!
