hi everyone.. about 8 montha ago I started having pain in my neck and right shoulder. It would only last for a couple of days and then it was gone. But then a few weeks later it would return for a few days and be gone again.
About 1 1/2 months ago I started having pain in both shoulders daily. It wouldn't last all day long, it would normally come on in the evening after a full day of housecleaning, laundry and lifting my son.
9 days ago I started having very sharp shooting pains in both shoulders, more so in the left one, and constant buring pain in both(the left is worse). I scheduled and appointment with my pcp but she couldn't fit me in right away. Last Monday night the pain got so unbearable I went to the ER in tears. The ER doc took xrays of my shoulers and also did a CT Scan. He diagnosed me with neck spasms and gave me muscle relaxers and pain medicine, and told me to make sure I don't miss my appt. with my pcp.
Yesterday when I went to see my doctor I was running a low grade fever. We discussed my symptoms and went over the tests from the ER. Then she tells me she thinks I have bursitis and set me up an appt with an ortho for next week. She asked me if I was getting sick or had I been sick since I was running a fever . I told her no and still have no symptoms of a cold or anything that would cause a fever. I've checked my temp a few times today and the fever is still present.
As I was doing some research on bursitis, I read that bursitis accompanied by a fever or swollen glands could possibly be infectious bursitis and needs to be treated with antibiotics.
I guess I'm just looking for some advice or opinions since I can't see the ortho until Tuesday the 20th. The pain is a little more tolerable with the muscle relaxers and vicodin so I'm able to sleep now. Before I was waking up in the night with horrible pains shooting through my shoulders and only sleeping 1-2 hours a night. It's kind of depressing too because I have small children, my youngest only 11 months, and this pain effects everything I do and my ability to take care of the baby since it hurts to lift him. My boyfriend even made a couple hurtful comments more or less saying he thinks I'm a big baby. He doesn't understand how much pain I'm in and even small things like standing at the sink washing dishes puts me in agony.
Has anyone else had infectious bursitis? Or common bursitis? I'm interested in hearing others' symptoms and treatment if you feel like sharing!
Thanks for listening!
