China will demand twice as much oil within the next decade. India, Russia and other countries will demand more oil within the forseeable future.

If terrorists every destroyed the oil refineries in Saudia Arabia then oil would be unaffordable. China might give uranium to Iran for oil. People would die of starvation, americans couldn't not afford to drive to work and a global recession could happen.

I think the USA relies too much on oil. The president must sign a bill so that our government spends billions of dollars researching and developing alternatives to oil. Thus far, the USA has not done much to break its addiction to oil. If something every happend to the oil supply then what would the USA do?

I think our reliance on oil is a problem.

Using oil for energy is not a problem but the problem is in the processes of releasing energy from oil. At this moment, those processes are very inefficiency (heat loss during the processes) and a lot of gases leading to global warming have been released.

The China Earthquake has indicated the problem: China consumed too much. Hence, during the rebuild process, China government is considering to turn those epicenter except the main city back to forrest.

Alternative energy should be used as soon as possible. Otherwise, the loss will be greater than the gain.
