Induced Birth... Nothing to eat or drink, how to handle?

For starters, you can brush your teeth, after all you don't swallow the toothpaste, second, its hard but to tell you the truth once labor starts you'll probably be too excited to eat. I had a mild stomach ulcer and had very bad stomach pains from not eating when i was induced, so the nurses did allow me to take some tums.

I'm so scared of being induced on Monday, but something I just realized when I was grabbing a glass of water was that I'm not going to be able to have anything to eat or drink after midnight until I give birth.

How did you ladies handle this? I'm worried because no matter how much I brush or use mouth wash, I have the worst taste in my mouth right after I wake up. Normally brushing or just chugging some water is sufficient, but I can't do these things! Would it be okay to swig around some mouth wash in the morning before heading to the hospital?

Also, what happens if labor doesn't start until after 1 - that's a long time to go without eating, and longer to go without drinking. How can these doctors think we'll have the energy to push a baby out of ourselves if we don't have any food in us?!
