Indoor photos with good lighting?

i have been taken indoor photos in the summer without any aditional lighting (only with the light from the sun, and it worked quite well)
but now autumn and clouds arrived, so i dont know what to do to improve the pictures, i have tried my ceiling lamp, but it looks awful.

i can't aford to buy proper lighting now, so any advice on diy lighting or any tips are welcome!
btw, i used to use a canon powershot pro1, but it broke, so now im stuck with a kodak easyshare c315 -.-

Try to adjust the exposure by increasing ISO setting, if your camera allows it. Other wise you can always use a 200watt white light bulb. (Throw the light on the ceiling to increase the ambient light.)
