I've owned a cat now for about 4yrs, which I adopted from a co-worker of mine when he was about 4-5yo which I was told. They use to let him roam in/out their home in a subdivision, however, when I got him I kept him pretty much as a strictly indoor cat. We've given him sunrooms to bathe, opened windows, toys, cat trees, scatching posts, etc....... We kept him inside for pretty much every reason I've came across on this site , and to sum it all up SAFETY. His behaviour became negligible the older he got and wanted to wonder off outdoors. I tried a leash and Um , Yeah, Right!! So he has became more brash at sneaking outside whenever there's an open / cracked door. So we began to let him out during the day & back in at night, until recently he just refuse to come inside to stay anymore. I know the lifespan is shorter for Outdoor cats but I feel he should experience this freedom if it makes him happy although against my better wishes. What to do?
