Anyone else watching this tonight on BBC1?

I've seen it before and it wasn't to bad. I know I'm going to tune in. I quite like this Friday movie thing BBC are doing.

I've never seen it before- is it good?

I loved Channel 4's season of movies on Saturday at 9- now they've stopped that there's hardly anything good on. Apart from Donnie Darko coming on BBC2... :D

I watched it the other day on dvd, it's still as good as i remember !

Still gives me goosepimples :D

Bit predictable as all "end of the world" films are but the special effects are great!

Saw the trailers for this film back before it was released in the cinema.. was really looking forward to it.. but I thought it was a pile of shite when I eventually saw it.

anyone got the special edition dvd?
has the sound been decoded badly ..... it dosn't play the loud, booming parts very well?

anyway, seen it on the first saturday when it was released, ten in the morning, in glasgow ..... plenty of footroom too (i was right next to a stairwell, not many people in the hall ..... ) and just sat back .....

was in complete awe of it, still one of my all-time favourites!

anyone have the making of video, that you gto from the sun/news of the world/odeon? used to watch that mock "tv news in-the-film" documentary many, many times .....

i also got the making of book, the novel (except it was the CHILDREN'S VERSION instead of the normal version (i got that eventually), and i even have the t-shirt :D

and i adore the OST

Its a good movie aslong as you don't actually think about what is actually going on! Once you start properly paying attention you realise just how cheesy it is, and things like how the world is saved by an Apple mac computer will start to annoy you! Other stuff include Will smith miraculously gaining access to a helicopter easily, then flying it and finding his wife immediately and topping it off with some Cheesy lines! The president isnt the greatest actor either! All very American, Cheesy, predictable and not very well thought out, but is a great watch if your just in it for the special effects!!!

Its a dreadful film - it only lives in the sepcial effects which are very good. But the story line ie amazing series of conicidences, No one else in the whole world is important apart from America and aliens with fantastic technology and intelligence who get outwitted by Jeff Goldblum! Plus far too long. Avoid unless you a) have a cinema to watch it in b) you can switch off your logic circuits c) you are american and belive all this stuff :-)

Will some people get it into their heaRAB that some films are made to be watched with brain in neutral, it just has to entertain and Independence Day does that in spades.

Will some people get it into their heaRAB that just because a film is entertainment the writers don't have to be lazy and drop in every cliche known to man.

As a schlock sci-fi experience the effects are good, the plot leaks like a colander and the science doesn't bear thinking about (the alien suit protects him from crashing the ship into the desert at full speed, but allows Will to punch him out?).

Independance Day is utter shite.

The most dissapointing let down of a film i have ever seen in my life. It has so many stupid scenes and mistakes in it, i tore it to shreRAB.

If you like a film purely for special effects, then yeah, it will float your boat. But if you like a bit more substance then you will be sorely dissapointed.

But Donnie Darko - now your talking! :D
