My parents would let me play pretty much any video game I wanted. Be it Megaman, or Devil May Cry, once I explained to them what the game was about they were always on board. I had to have a little talk with them when the subject of GTA came up, but I was allowed that too. I'm 18 now, I'm usually top in my class, and I'm known for being polite and respectful (I''m being truthful. I see no reason to lie just to make a good impression on people I've never met.)
My mom works all day, and has many errands to do on her time off. Some days I hardly see her for more than an hour a day. She does her best to raise me and my little brother.
My and my brother have been playing games (puzzle, violent, suggestive themes, etc) since I can remember. She trusted us.
My question is:
I can understand that some parents have a problem with their children playing violent video games, some kids simply aren't mature enough to handle a game. Walk around any school and you'll see what I mean. My brother was 7 when he got his first dose of GTA, he's 15 now, and is a well adjusted 10th grader. Gets good grades ,I think he may be smarter than me at this point
I know most parents are responsible people, I'm speaking to the minority of whiners. Why do you complain about violent games, when you are the one in charge in your house, if you don't think you've raised your children correctly, or would simply rather have your kids do something more productive thats fine, but why point fingers at video game creators? Games have clear ratings.
The reason I'm asking this is that the State of California is trying to give retailers penalties for selling violent games, and other states are trying to pass similar legislature. The Gaming Industry has so far won every battle. Today the issue goes to the Supreme Court.

PS: Sorry if my formatting off, my sleep deprived at the moment.
