In your opinion, can a 125sx beat a 250 honda/husky?

I have an 04 125sx. Im asking because ive got a couple of mates, and one of them has a black honda 250, and the other has a 250 husky.
Please don't just say 'it depends on the rider'... cause i know thats true, but im looking for a thorough answer!
And it doesn't have to 'beat it', but can it atleast keep up ?
If not, can you suggest a 250 bike that i can trade for my 125sx - and if it would be a good idea to trade it??
'Keeping in mind it will be my first racing season in September.'...

The KTM is a great bike but it depends on if the 250s are 4-stroke or 2-stroke..Ya see the 250 2-strokes have about 46 to 47 HP..and they will smoke that 125...but if they are 4-strokes you won't be far behind..If I was to get a 250 right now I would get the 2007 Honda crf250r just because the have some great deals on them right now...

new 07 crf250r $3.999....Thats about half price from what they were in 07....Thay must have built a bunch of them that year..
