In WWII did Marines operate in the European Theater of Operations?

I think you've answered your own question. All the "footage" I've seen. Try reading a history book.

Of course Marines were involved. The "D" day invasion couldn't have happened without them.
 
There were no Marines involved in the Normandy landings. I've done quite a bit of reading about World War 2 and have yet to find any mention of USMC forces being used in Europe. There were however a couple of Ranger Battalions, but those are Army units.

The Marines were pretty busy in the Pacific, where the Navy was largely in charge of operations. And while the USMC was more actively trained in amphibious landings, they were certainly not the only group capable of it.
