I have actually read and enjoyed the book, so please don't tell me to get off the computer and read it. The rough ideas I have so far: cities are places of innovation, wealth, and power; population of cities increased rapidly during this time due to immigration; very commercial civilization; contrast of Jurgis' time in country and in city; cities appear to be places of opportunity; the fate of civilization will be decided in a battle between socialism and capitalism
Any other ideas? How do these sound?
