i just finished watching season one of Dexter today and i'm having a hard time understanding something. Dexter couldnt kill Debra or allow Brian to kill her because he says he is "fond of her." now i was always under the impression that any attachment dexter had for anyone was learned or faked in order to appear 'normal' but with his sister, i never got that feeling. he seems to genuinely care for her.
am i wrong? does dexter only care for debra because of what harry taught him about appearing normal or does he legitimately love her on his own?
this is probably one of those questions that cant be answered because only dexter would know the real answer to that (probably not actually) but i would just like to hear some opinions on it. i'm pretty firm in my belief that he does actually love her but what does everyone else think?
