Samuel Rogers (1763-1855)...........He wrote a poem called The Sleeping Beauty, and I copied his style and rhyme scheme....just to see if I could.
The Sleeping Beauty
Thy brow is smooth with innocence
With blush of sleep upon thy cheek
Proclaiming languid indolence,
And cherub soul both chaste and meek.
A brush of lips upon thy brow
Brings forth a smile of sweetest hue.
Thy dreams cannot contain thee now
You sport with gods as cherubs do
No earthly matters can intrude
No images of death’s dark shrouds.
Cradled for a brief interlude
On gossamer spun-cotton clouds.
............I'm not sure whether 'On spun-cotton gossamer clouds' would be better - I suppose there is little difference.
Upon gossamer spun-cotton clouds (sounds better but then I've gained an unwanted syllable)
