In the movie Blow, why is George Jung depicted as a good guy?

They try to show George Jung (Johnny Depp) as being a real good guy that just gets screwed over by everyone else. He's a loving father and this and that. Did he ever kill anyone? I'd like to know.

This guy seems more like a piece of crap to me than a great guy.
