In the book Prey do the nanobot swarm cause julia to have an affair with ricky?

I read the book but i have this doubt.....i mean did the real julia have an affair with the real ricky or was it the symbiotic julia who had a relationship with the symbiotic ricky.............................................................srry if i sound stupid
 
Nanobot swarms don't enjoy affairs. Julia used the altered state of mind as a kind of excuse to herself to do something she wanted to anyway. It was kind of like someone who thinks they are about to die so they do something they have always sort of wanted to but never would normally.
