very very end of the book when Liesel dies at an old age Death says exactly this................In her Final Visions,she saw her three children,her grandchildren,her husband and the long list of lives that merged with hers.Among them,lit like lanterns,were Hans and Rosa Huberman,Her Brother and the boy whose hair remained the color of lemons forever.
but a few other visions were there as well.....then death says some more stuff..this is all on p.544
what i dont get is she left out max..he definatly made an impact on her life and she shows deep feelings for him.and they do reunite after the war so Max must become her husband...thats what i think and my class and my teacher.so if you know the answer let me know
