in the army, what is an 88m?

my husband is joining the army as an 88m, can someone with this job expirience tell me a little about it? i understand its the army and that he might go to combat i would just like to know what its like in this job... i dont want a bunch of people telling me that hes gonna get shot at... im aware that may happen. thank you
 
he will probably drive equipment around the fob or sometimes he might run in a convoy and take stuff to the troops on the front line.
