In Photoshop, is there any way to turn off the feature of..?

when using the clone stamp tool, and if you double click while holding down the Alt, Align turns on automatically. It drives me completely nuts!
I have no idea what moron would program it to do that. I'll be flying along, cleaning up a picture and all of a sudden Align comes on and messes up my cloning. If this can't be turned off in preferences or somewhere, where can i write Adobe and send a complaint letter?
 
Holding down the alt key allows you to sample an area to clone. I don't understand why you are double clicking during sampling? BTW doubleclicking on CS3 doesn't yield that result for me. What ver are you using?
