My friend is going to NYC next week and I'm trying to figure out if it would be cheaper for him to pick up some make up for me at Sephora there or if I should just buy it here with a coupon I've got. So let's just say I want something that's 10 bucks, how much would it be after taxes? Someone said sales tax is 8.725%, but are there also city taxes or whatever else taxes on top of that? What would my grand total on a $10 item be?
In NYC, do you only get sales tax on cosmetic purchases? Or are there other taxes?
