In need of someone creative... and knows chemistry too..?

Well, i'm in the IB program and our sciences project is going to be 'wastes'.... so, knowing that, can you please suggest something my group and i could do to investigate smthn about wastes, and still be able to do something in the lab...

for example, investigating what throwing factory wastes in water sources does... but there's another group that's doing that

so please... help ?!?
