I was planning on buying a car from Massachusetts (I live in NY) and I need to find out how to get it back here. Massachusetts doesn't offer transit plates so I can't get one and put it on the car and I can't register the car because once I get it here I need a salvage exam so I won't be able to get plates until after that. I know in some states, like NJ, the plates go with the car but I dunno about Massachusetts. I know here you have to hand the plates in or you get fined.
In Massachusetts do you have to hand in the plates after you sell a car?
