My husband is from a very tightly-knit family. They have kids in their 20s and 30s and yet have never lived without one of them living with them at some point. They play a hand in making sure this is so. My father-in-law calls my husband every day, sometimes more than once a day, and they both stop by unannounced often. I have asked my husband to say something to them about respecting boundaries (mostly just calling before visiting and respecting my time; leaving when I am busy, etc.). He has said something to his dad, but not his mom. He interprets my request as me not liking his parents. Recently, his mom showed up with her sister and her mom to give them a tour of my house, which was messy, I was working on my computer, in my pajamas, hair atrocious, stinky armpits, unbrushed teeth, just took a crap so the bathroom stunk, zitty and unmade face, etc. I politely said she should call first. Aunt and Gma said they would leave, but mom just stared at me. 1 example of many.Help!
In response to me just telling her to call before coming over...READ MY QUESTION. I did. I have several times. It doesn't work. She just ignores me and doesn't say anything at all in response and just looks at me. It's very awkward. She's a real piece of work.
