In my school, 70% is made up of summative grades (tests, projects) and 30% is made up up formative grades (homework, quizzes, etc). This is true even of you're a year ahead in math (I'm a freshman in geometry, which is a year ahead but doesn't count for honors grade points). In honors math (geometry HONORS, etc) though, the weight is 75% summative and 25% formative. Does anyone know why this is so? All other honors classes go 70% summative 30% formative, but other level classes go 60% summative, 40% formative. Anyone know why math is weighted like this?
