On the other hand, with the Aztecs, there was no distinction between the royalty and the priesthood. Most of Egypt's history was similar, but without the mass murder; the pharaoh was a god.
No that is not true. In almost every civilization religion and government were supposed to be separate. But in every civilization the government leaders would listen to the religious leaders just like every one else in the country did and do what they wanted them to do.So in all actuality the religious leaders may not have been part of the government but they still "ran" the country.
