...exclamation point? I’m in sales and frequently have to email potential clients after speaking with them. Most of these emails that I’m sending are to people I’ve never spoken to before that moment and in all likelihood have spent less than 10 minutes with them on the phone.

My coworkers send out emails that have “Thanks!” and “Great speaking to you today!” in them, and I’m not sure if this is effective or nauseating. When I get them, I’m not exactly sure how I’m supposed to feel.

So are there any genuine guidelines to know if and when an exclamation point should be used?

Also, does gender come into play?
