A few months ago I bought a Canon G9 but then I took it back because it was more advanced than I think I needed. I talked to the sales person and asked for advice and they pointed me towards the Canon SD750.
I'm somewhat into photography, taking more than the occasional picture of family and friends, but not so much that I thought the G9 was for me. Although the SD750 is compact and takes fine portraits, it doesn't seem like enough (or is it?).
Are there any suggestions for a good middle ground? I'm heading off to New York for the first time in a few weeks, and aside from portraits, I want a camera that's great for landscapes, night images, good zoom capabilities, possibly micro photography (optional), etc.
Any suggestions from those who know a bit about photography and cameras?
