In ballroom dancing, are women ok with being touched like this…..?

I’m a guy that started going to group lessons on ballroom dancing. We learned that the dancing position is….the left hand holds the woman’s right hand and the man’s right hand gets placed on the woman’s left shoulder blade. Ok, so my left hand is holding the woman’s right hand. That’s understandable. But the right hand is what bothers me. Some women’s shoulder blade is fully exposed whether it be because they are wearing a revealing tank top, a dress with the shoulders exposed or a backless dress. So, that means my right hand is touching a woman’s *bare* shoulder blade. Isn’t this kind of awkward? Do women mind being touched like that?

Sorry if this question is kind of weird, but I just started learning to dance, so this touching and closeness is kind of awkward to me. So, please be patient with me.

Relax, you're not in the process of removing her dress.

As the other half of the dance partnership she knows you have to touch her there. So as long as you don't have overly-sweaty hands or start to rub her there or something, its all cool. If anything, the girl wants to know you are 100% in charge here. Hell, I used to be good at tango & my partners always went wherever I directed 'em because I was confident in my lead!
So go for it!!
 
Aww. I'm a girl and I find it really sweet that you care so much about touching a womans bare shoulder. It shows you respect women :). And yes it's fine! Guys I know would touch my bare shoulder and we don't even dance.

You have good morals, make sure you keep them.
