effect to a degree? When I look at art on a computer I have to check to see if it was hand-drawn or painted even if it is a simple cartoon or what appears to be a loosely painted abstract or semi-abstract image. If it is a photo realist painting it might turn out to actually be a photograph made to look like a painting.
In photography, I will find myself wondering if that beautiful nature scene actually looked that way in reality at all when the photo was taken or was it computer enhanced to a large degree.
At the risk of sounding discriminatory, shouldn't digitally manipulated photography and computer art be kept separate in their own category, rather than mixed in with straightforward photography and hand-created art?
