I was in the Art Institute of Chicago a few weeks ago, and I was in the impressionism room. Towards the back of the collection where the Van Goghs and Gaugin rooms are, I noticed a very small painting of a fishing hut in the woods on a lake shore. It's mostly painted in midnight blue and the trees are painted in black. The fishing hut is white. It was reminscient of a Rousseau painting, but I think it came a bit earlier than he did, or right around that time...
It was done by a very minor artist (I didn't recognize it when I looked at the label to its right), and the Art Institute doesn't seem to have the painting on their website nor did they have a postcard of it in their gift shop. Does anyone know what this painting is? Thanks!
