My girlfriend and I bought 2 new cars (2009 Passats) and we have to make a sudden move to Japan. We want to take her car to Japan and leave mine here. She is Japanese and her visa is running out so we will move there. Will she have to pay extra taxes on the car since we haven't had it for more than 1 year? And what is the whole process like registering it in Japan? Expensive? I know I have to register it, but I'm worried about the extra tax we might have to pay. Help.
