My mom has been on my case about playing too rough with my dog because it will teach her to be "aggressive." My dog has never, ever bitten anyone on purpose, and has never acted like she wanted to. I don't think I play with her that roughly, all I do is play tug of war with her toys and occasionally hold her mouth in a certain way to get the toy out (not in a way that's painful to her - she makes it clear when she's in pain) and I used my foot to maneuver her back so I could have enough distance to throw to her to have her catch mid-air. I got yelled at for playing too rough, with my mom saying that my dog will end up really aggressive. She would not let me explain what I was thinking when doing it, as she always needs to be right and will not let anyone have a word in edgewise.
Also, I was scratching an itch on her back (she has a very think double coat, so a semi-hard scratch there probably felt good) and I got yelled at for that too. My reasoning is that she's not an easily-breakable antique, but I need another opinion.

Thank you so much, I need to get to the bottom of this.
