Greeting from SAUDI ARABIA
You can import your contacts without having gmail account.
the steps are as following
1- using your mobile ( nokia, windows mobile ..etc ) in my case i am using HTC HD windows mobile.
2- export your contact to Comma Separated Values CSV file using any backup software in my cause i export it to (WLMContacts.csv)using Jeyo Mobile Companion software.
3- using Microsoft outlook ( you can install a trial version from Microsoft), and you can put any email just to start the program then import the WLMContacts.csv to the outlook as following
file -> Import and Export -> Import from another program or file -> Comma Separated Values (windows) -> click on browse bottom and choose your backup file and choose one of the options below -> select contact -> before you click Finish choose (Map custom Field) , in this step you will get two winows right and left, from right window grab name and put it in name box in the left, phone nubmber from right window in mobile number in the left window and etc. -> ok -> finish
Now all your contacts is imported correctly to the Outlook.
if you didn't follow (Map custom filed) step from above your contacts may appear messy, name in email address or phone number missing .. etc
Now to import them to your HTC Desire or Android mobile ..
4- Start HTC Sync ( can be downloaded from HTC.COM) for free.
5- connect yor mobile, and from your mobile screen choose ( HTC Sync ).
6- from your PC - HTC Sync software click (Sync Manege -> setting , from category choose contact (from left), (from right side) choose (your mobile with MS outlook then ok).
7- from HTC Sync software face again click (Synchronis now).
