Hi,

I want to buy a new camera. I have the Sony T200 which is a small Point&Shoot. I saw a friend with a Canon EOS 50D and I was amazed by the picture quality and "life". So I wanted something similar whitout having the budget to fulfill it! ;)

I was thinking of buying the Kodak Z1015 IS or perhaps the Nikon D40 or D50 used.

Do you know if there is a huge difference in picture quality?

Thank you very much.

Kind regards,

The Kodak is still a point and shoot with a sensor that is less that 15 times the size of the Nikon DSLR's

Look at the D40. At this time it is the most bang for the buck and new costs less than $450 with the 18-55 mm lens and under $600 with the added 55-200 mm lens

Any time you have a camera with a large sensor (we are not talking about a high pixel count, but actual size of the senor), the quality will be much better. The other factor of quality depends upon the skill of the shooter.
