I am an avid mac user but love to play PC games. For example, I love the game "Portal" from the Orange Box. I'm planning on getting the high-end iMac (24", 3.06 GHz, upgraded to 4GB of RAM). Right now, I play the game on my 17", 2.4 GHz, 2GB of RAM Macbook Pro. I love the game but the quality isn't really amazing. No specific problems, but it could definitely have some minor improvements.
How much of an improvement will this computer be? I don't only play Portal, but it is one of the most frequent ones I play and my computer has the most trouble running it. Will 4GB of RAM and a 3.06 GHz make a noticable difference when compared to my 2 GB of RAM and 2.4 GHz?
I do have the computer with the actual button, it's a little bit older. I believe the late 2007 model.
To be honest, I hate Windows, all forms of it. But the bright side is, I own crossover and crossover games. So almost any Windows software I need I can use on my mac. On the new iMac, I have configured it with a 1 TB hard drive, so I may partition part of it to run Windows, but that is only if it is 100% necessary and Crossover doesn't work. I hate Windows though.
