Moonlight shone threw the window as 17 year-old Jade read a book about a girl named Raven Madison, in the Den. Her 14 year old brother Eric was playing video games in his room with his friend Jack. She stared off into space daydreaming about some boy named Jared that she had a crush on at school when suddenly she heard glass shatter in the kitchen, ripping her out of her thoughts. She knew her parents weren’t home because they went to go see a movie, so she put the bookmark in the book, stretched and walked to the kitchen in a slow steady pace. Maybe mom and dad are home, she thought as she approached the door. But when she slipped into the kitchen there was no one in sight. She looked around, there was nothing on the marble counter tops, the island was clear, and so was the table.
So she thought maybe she was just hearing things, she started to walk back to the Den when she noticed something odd in the front room. When she walked in, someone put an arm around her and covered her mouth.
“ Don’t say a word,” a male voice whispered in her ear, sending a shill down her spine. “and come with me.”
Jade was absolutely horrified! She kicked him in the leg and tried to squirm out of his grasp but that only made him hold her tighter.
How does it sound?
