I'm writing a musical based on a pre-existing media. How do get permission?

Hey guys. I'm currently writing, "Pac Man: The Musical." No, I'm serious. Make fun of me later. My question is since I don't have a penny to offer if I get sued, I'm wondering how I'm supposed to ask for permission/buy the rights. Is it a long process? Do I just have to write to them and get the, "ok"? Where can I find the number or email or address to write to? Who SHOULD I write to?
