I'm woried about my gold fish?

I just got a gold fish from a class I take at the zoo. They put him in a "self sustaining ecosystem" but I wanted him to live so I switched him into a tank with a filter earlier today. He is about an inch and a half and he has trouble swimming away from the filter. Now he seems sad and depressed. Is he sick or just getting used to his new environment? He also doesn't eat the food I give him

well, i'd check with them if this is an appropriate environment. i'm sure it'll be fine though. it's probably just not used to it. good luck though. hope all goes well.

....olol..its a fish....gold fish have only3 seconds of memory.....sooo they for get wat they did 5 seconds ago......but if u love im soo much bring it to the vet

The tank was not cycled before adding the fish in. This means that there is not currently enough beneficial bacteria in the tank to break down fish waste.

Keep an eye on ammonia levels in your aquarium. It is likely that they have spiked. Because ammonia is lethal to fish even in the smallest amounts, for the benefit of the fish, perform small partial water changes daily.

A zoo should know better.
